Dr. Denise Wynne-Baker is a Board-Certified Pediatrician with strong ties to the Philadelphia Community. She received her Medical Degree from Temple University, graduated from Bryn Mawr College’s Post Baccalaureate Program, and received her undergraduate degree from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Wynne-Baker has served a large multi-generational panel of patients in the Philadelphia Community for many years. In recognition of her outstanding clinical career and expertise, she has received many honors including being a Macy’s Scholar at Bryn Mawr College, recognized as a Living Legend in Medicine by Philadelphia City Council, inducted in the Overbrook High School Hall of Fame and a contributor to newspapers, radio and television shows in the Philadelphia area. Dr. Wynne-Baker is the President of the Medical Society of Eastern Pennsylvania and Chair of the MSEP Pipeline Committee. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and The Links Incorporated. Dr. Wynne-Baker is married to Jim Baker, and they have 2 daughters, Elizabeth Baker, an accomplished actor and Nicole Baker, a fourth-year medical student at Thomas Jefferson University. Vice President- William King, Jr. MD, FAAP Dr. William King is a general pediatrician in private practice at Pediatric and Adolescent Medical Centers of Philadelphia, an African-American owned practice. He was the Chief of the section of Community Pediatrics at Temple School of Medicine, and served as an Ensign in the National Health Service Corps branch of the US Public Health Service. He performed his residency at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, was a medical student at Yale University, and is an alumnus of Stanford University. He trained and worked in molecular biology labs at Stanford, the National Institutes of Health, and Duke University.
Dr. King’s professional interests are in community-based pediatric practice, and parent education. His research interests have been on youth violence reduction, childhood malnutrition, and medical student outreach. He is currently the Vice President of the Medical Society of Eastern Pennsylvania, representing Philadelphia-area Black Physicians. His history with the National Medical Association extends back to medical school where he was a SNMA national vice president. He is the co-host on Physicians-On-Air, MSEP's monthly radio show on WURD radio. Dr King is a deacon at White Rock Baptist Church in West Philadelphia, where he works actively with scouting and cultivates the Children’s Garden. His wife is a professor in the School of Social Work at Widener University and they have a talented high school son and college graduate daughter who take up the rest of their attention. Dr. Lydia Thomas-Mabine is actively involved in various medical executive leadership roles. She is a Trustee of the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society advocating for scholarships for African-American students and a Trustee of Chestnut Hill –Tower Health Hospital Board. Financial Secretary- Safiyya Shabazz, MD, FAAFPDr. Safiyya Shabazz is the owner and Medical Director of Fountain Medical Associates, a primary care practice in Mount Airy serving patients throughout their lifespan. An alumna of Central High School, she received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and Medical Doctorate from the University 
of Pennsylvania. She completed an internship at Morehouse Family Medicine in Atlanta before returning to Philadelphia to complete residency training at the University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Family Medicine & Community Health. There, she previously served as a clinical faculty member and remains on the volunteer faculty as an attending preceptor for Penn Med students. Dr. Shabazz is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Her advice for health and long life is based on “eating to live” and establishing lasting habits that reduce the risk of death and disease. She is a physician, entrepreneur, mother, wife, sister and teacher who resides in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia. Dr. Shabazz hopes to harness the collective power of Philadelphia’s Black physicians at various stages of their careers. She believes that together, we can not only reduce healthcare disparities among patients, but also address disparities in the professional opportunities available to Black doctors in the Greater Philadelphia area. Dr. Judith Outten is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who has been practicing for almost 30 years. She is active in her community and church and currently practices in private practice at a not-for-profit agency helping children, families and young adults work towards emotional regulation and better mental health. Dr. Kim May is a graduate of the Temple University School of Medicine. She attended Drexel University for her undergraduate studies, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science of Chemistry. Dr. May trained at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia in the Department of Internal Medicine. Dr. May has been practicing medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania since 1999. She is the owner of a small private practice in Strawberry Mansion. She is also the Medical Director of an Adult LIFE program in West Philadelphia. Dr. May is committed to providing quality healthcare to those who reside in underserved communities. |
